China Palace Super Buffet in San Marcos offers a straightforward buffet-style experience with a focus on Chinese and broader Asian dishes. Located just off Bugg Lane, this spot attracts locals looking for a casual, no-fuss meal where variety is the main draw.

The atmosphere inside is practical and low-key, more functional than decorative, making it a comfortable choice for families and groups who want to eat plentifully without pretense. The service tends to lean towards friendly and attentive, with staff keeping an eye on refills and guest needs as the buffet lanes busy up.

The buffet lineup features classic Chinese-American and Asian favorites — expect staples like Sesame Chicken, General Tso's Chicken, and a Seafood Delight that includes crab legs, squid, and baked fish. Alongside those are soups like Hot and Sour, a range of egg rolls and dumplings, and some occasional fusion touches such as Angel Hair Pasta dishes paired with traditional proteins.

This place works well for diners who appreciate having many options at one table, especially groups with varied tastes or diners who want to sample multiple dishes without ordering a la carte. Lunchtime or early dinner often feels least hectic, making it easier to enjoy the meal without the typical buffet rush.

While not aiming for gourmet, the food generally hits the comfort-food mark—the kind that fills you up and satisfies without too many surprises. Repetition in music and simple decor keep the vibe casual rather than trendy, so it’s more about the food and company than ambiance.

Overall, if you’re in San Marcos and want a reliably ample Asian buffet with familiar flavors and generous portions, China Palace Super Buffet is a solid, approachable choice, especially for families or groups hunting for variety and value close to home.

First time here, employees are very nice and our waiter made sure we had our drinks refilled when closed to empty. Food is good, not great but enough to make me and my boyfriend full and satisfied. Nice atmosphere, we just didn't like the same song on repeat, tho it's not that bad. Very much worth the price, I feel as though people that haven't visited these kinds of places are the ones leaving all the bad reviews because as far as Asian buffets go it's pretty standard if not even a little better.
